Former WWE Diva and 2005 Diva Search Winner Ashley Massaro has tragically passed away. TMZ reported today that Massaro was transported from her home in New York to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she never recovered and died later on in the morning.
While working with the WWE, she feuded with the likes of Candice Michelle, Torrie Wilson, Victoria, Mickie James, and Michelle McCool. She also found herself working as the valet of Paul London and Brian Kendrick when she moved from Raw to SmackDown in 2006.
In 2007, it was revealed that Massaro would be the cover girl of the April edition of Playboy.
WWE issued the following statement on her passing:
We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.
While the cause of death has not been confirmed, it’s been reported that Massaro’s death has been classified as “non-criminal.” She was only 39.
