Frank Shamrock Back in the UFC?, Top Boxer at UFC 101 Tonight, New Octagon Girl

– According to mma.fanhouse.com, James Leinhos, the manager of Edith Labelle has confirmed that she is no longer an Octagon Girl. She is being replaced at UFC 101 with the new Octagon girl, Natasha Wicks, who won the job last month. There is no word on if Labelle was fired or if she quit, but she was not a part of UFC 100 last month and her profile is also gone from the UFC website. Labelle debuted with the UFC in late 2007 at UFC 78.

– Roy Jones Jr. will be live in attendance at UFC 101 tonight in Philadelphia. Although he’s still in training for his August 15th fight against Jeff Lacy, Jones is taking a night off to watch the MMA card. Apparently, the main reason for his attendance is to scout the boxing skills of Anderson Silva. The two have been long rumored to be interested in meeting each other in a boxing match when Silva’s UFC contract expires.

– During the UFC Fight Club Q&A session at Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center on Friday, UFC President Dana White was asked about Frank Shamrock returning to the promotion. White had the following comments…

“I made up with Tito. Maybe I could make up with Frank.”

Shamrock “retired” as the champion in 1999 due to the UFC not meeting his demands, and has gone onto fight for the WEC, EliteXC and Strikeforce. Shamrock had promised to never return to the UFC while White was in charge, but with Tito Ortiz returning, anything could happen…
