Reports suggest that pro boxing star Gervonta Davis was unexpectedly taken into custody following an impromptu hearing.
Gervonta Davis in custody
The undefeated boxing star has faced legal troubles and he was recently taken into custody at Baltimore Central Booking. It has come after he violated his parole. This comes shortly after he was sentenced to a period of home detention for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident.
Davis had pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a 2020 crash that resulted in injuries to four individuals, including a pregnant woman. On May 5, the court handed down a three-month home detention sentence to be served at the residence of his trainer, Calvin Ford.
It has been noted that alongside the home detention, ‘Tank’ has been assigned 200 hours of community service, enrollment in a program at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and attendance at a victim impact panel organized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
In April, Gervonta Davis secured a remarkable seventh-round knockout win against Ryan Garcia. The two had a rivalry and were at odds for years before entering the squared circle on Saturday, April 22. Going into the bout, there was a lot of back and forth between the two, with both fighters making their intentions clear of wanting to knock each other out.
Gervonta Davis started the fight off slowly and was seemingly getting used to the pace on display by Ryan Garcia in the first round. In the second round of the fight, ‘KingRy’ started finding success with his power punches.
However, Garcia seemingly was caught with a vicious strike from Davis that knocked him down.
