WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016 after a hiatus of more than 12 years from the company. He decimated Brock Lesnar in a squash match at Survivor 2016 and then win the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in 2017. He defended his title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in one of the show’s main events.  As revealed by his contract, Vince McMahon can only have him compete in one more match every year, so it needs to be meaningful. It was rumored to be the last match of his contract, so it may be his retirement match. Goldberg was also previously diagnosed with a bad illness as well.Â
He had two matches against Bobby Lashley at WWE SummerSlam and then WWE Crown Jewel on October 21st, 2021 in Saudi Arabia respectively. Goldberg beat Lashley in the second match. Since then, the WWE Hall Of Famer has been absent from WWE television.
Goldberg squared off against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at the WWE Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia on February 19th. The Tribal Chief ended up winning the match as well.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently shared an interesting tidbit about Goldberg’s situation with WWE. Despite popular belief, WWE is not obligated to give Goldberg any more matches as he has already fulfilled his lucrative contract. However, there is still a chance that he could make a return to the ring through his strong connections within the industry, as his contract has yet to expire. In essence, while WWE no longer owes him matches, he is still bound by his contract and cannot compete for another promotion until it has lapsed. Only time will tell if Goldberg will sign on for another match with WWE.
