Huge Champion vs Champion match confirmed for NJPW’s Anniversary Show

As seen on NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka event, Tetsuya Naito successfully defended both IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against KENTA. The match had its fair share of interferences but the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon triumphed ultimately.

After the match, Naito called out his fellow stable-mate and IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi. Takahashi came out and took a good look at Naito’s IWGP Heavyweight Title.

NJPW’s Anniversary show is around the corner and the show has a very special tradition. According to the show’s tradition, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion faces the IWGP Heavyweight Champion in a non-title match in the main event of the show.

Therefore, as per tradition, Naito challenged Takahashi to a match at the show. Takahashi accepted Naito’s challenge and so, the match is set.

The main event for NJPW’s Anniversary show will see LIJ members Takahashi and Naito take on each other in a non-title match.
