Vince McMahon tried to mend friendship with Hulk Hogan

It is needless to mention that Hulk Hogan was WWE’s biggest star in the 80s and early 90s. He parted ways with the company in 1993 and cracked the relationship between Vince and him. However, over the years, Hogan has returned to the company several times.

In a recent episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross stated that McMahon tried many times to “recreate that idyllic relationship” he had with Hogan. The Hall of Famer outline as to why Hogan has had several “second chances”. Ross stated that McMahon was not willing to accept that his relationship with Hogan from the glory days could not be recreated:

“Vince kept trying to recreate the dynamic that Vince had with Hogan, hence all the saw second chances, next starts and Hall of Fame. Here’s another reason we can bring him back. Vince kept trying to recreate that idyllic relationship they once had.”

He continued:

“I felt bad for Vince at times because he really wanted the relationship to get back on somewhat of an even-keel. It may not be what it used to be, but he wanted to make it better than what it is, and I’m not sure we accomplished that,” said Jim Ross.

Over the years, Hogan has also been involved in several controversial matters, being removed from the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 following racist comments and remarks he made while speaking about his daughter, Brooke, dating a black man. Hogan was a judge on the WWE show “Tough Enough” at the time, and was cut from the program and replaced by The Miz as a judge when a video of the incident surfaced. Hogan used the n-word multiple times in the released tape and said, “I guess we’re all a little racist.” Hogan was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018 after serving a suspension for three years.
