It was recently reported that ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, WWE Hall of Famer and sixteen-time World’s Heavyweight Champion had been looking to lace up the boots one more time. The encounter is set to take place at a specialty professional wrestling card Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match” and was originally set to go down against one of Flair’s most legendary opponents in Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat. However, Steamboat has since declined his participation from the event card entirely.
This has now left the event and one of the most influential names in professional wrestling and sports entertainment without an opponent, leading to rampant speculation on who could face Flair. Former WWE Superstar, Brian Blair, who was one half of the tag team combination, ‘The Killer Bees’ back in the 1980s, allegedly has spoiled the fact that it will most likely be Hulk Hogan to face off against Flair and taking the spot of the ‘The Dragon’.
Blair stated the following in an interview with WSI | Wrestling Shoot Interviews, “I’m looking forward to seeing Flair and Hogan…” Blair said. Blair said “at SummerSlam” but he likely means Starrcast V during SummerSlam weekend in Nashville. Blair was then asked about Flair and Hogan stepping in at their age with their health issues.
He continued: “Well, I think if Ric were gonna die anywhere, he’d wanna die in the ring. Terry’s had his fair share of surgeries, way too many and I’m getting ready to call Terry in a couple of minutes. I just wish them the very best. I know the fans are the ones that have been really egging it on that really want to see it. So it’s sparked them. All I can say is it will be interesting and I just pray that they both come out in one piece.”
