Impact Wrestling Results For July 8th: Dixie Carter Returns

EC3 kicks off Impact Wrestling and he is wearing a snazzy suit and tie while holding his TNA heavyweight championship. He’s in the ring with Tyrus. The new champion asked, “Do I have your attention now?” He claims he is unbeatable and brags about his victory over Kurt Angle. He calls himself the greatest wrestler alive. He claims Dixie Carter put him in charge of running the show tonight. He announces he will be defending his heavyweight title three times.

Matt Hardy interrupts and says he softened up Angle for him. He says he is not an EC3 fan. In fact, he says he’s thinking of having a “Matt For Champ” campaign. He challenges EC3 to a world title match tonight. EC3 declines Hardy’s challenge. He gets in EC3’s face, but is blocked by Tyrus. EC3 says he booked Matt in a tag match, but it’s too bad his “dumbass” brother is injured. He tells Matt he’ll be in a handicap match instead.

The Dirty Heels’ music hits and it looks like our first match of the evening is underway. EC3 is a special guest commentator, Josh Matthews must be drooling.

Handicap Match: Matt Hardy vs. The Dirty Heels

Before the bell could even ring, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode were on the attack. The Dirty Heels have a substantial advantage in the early going. Roode tags in Aries. Hardy locks in the Ice Pick submission, but Roode breaks it up. Hardy clotheslines his opponents. He lands a bulldog on Aries while kicking Roode.

Hardy hits the Twist of Fate on Roode, but Aries nails him with a forearm to the jaw. He goes for a dropkick in the corner but is stopped. Hardy goes for a suplex on Aries, but Roode holds onto Hardy’s foot, causing Aries to land on him for the pinfall.

Winners: The Dirty Heels

The Rising is shown walking backstage and they will have some final words as a stable.

-Commercial Break-

The Rising is in the ring. Drew Galloway says he wishes the group was out under “positive circumstances.” He says The Rising came together because somebody had to fight the injustice in professional wrestling. He tells Eli Drake and Micah that it has been an honor to fight with them. Drake, being held up by crutches, credits Galloway for getting him through the door and tells him he will pay it forward someday.

Galloway promises the BDC’s time will be over. He says wrestling will live on forever. He says the future is bright in TNA. He says this isn’t the end, it’s only the beginning.

EC3 pretends to cry on the mic. He says he booked a three on three six-man tag match with The Rising involved, but since they disbanded, Galloway will be in a handicap match against The Revolution.

Handicap Match: Drew Galloway vs. The Revolution (Abyss, Manik, Khoya)

As expected, Galloway has been getting pounded on early, but Khoya and Abyss seem to have some beef with each other. Galloway lands a neck breaker on Abyss and a big boot on Manik. Khoya hits the Sky High, but Abyss prevents him from getting the pin.

Galloway dropkicks Khoya into Abyss and they tumble out of the ring. He sends Manik crashing to the canvas with single leg running dropkick and wins the match.

Winner: Drew Galloway.

Mr. Anderson approaches EC3 and Tyrus backstage. He tells EC3 congratulations. He reminds EC3 he did it on his own and respects him putting his title on the line three times tonight. He offers to participate in a title match tonight. EC3 says he already has a match tonight against Bram.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Mr. Anderson vs. Bram

They trade grappling positions to start. Bram connects with a European uppercut. Anderson counters Bram with a swinging neck breaker. He goes for the Green Bay Plunge twice and hits it on his second attempt. Anderson goes for the swanton and hits it. Bram kicks out at two. Bram elbows his way out of the Mic Check.

Anderson knocks Bram over the top rope with a clothesline. He hits the baseball slide. Anderson goes out the ring, but Bram levels him with a steel chair and referee Earl Hebner calls an end to the match.

Winner: Mr. Anderson

Afterward, Bram throws Anderson to the steel steps and further harasses a cameraman and a production member. He drags Anderson to the ramp and nails him with his own mic four times. Anderson sports a cut over his eyebrow.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back and Jesse Godderz is in the ring. We recap his parking lot brawl with Robbie E last week.

Street Fight: Jesse Godderz vs. Robbie E

Robbie launches himself at Godderz and rains down punches. He sends Godderz to the outside. Robbie goes under the ring and pulls out a trashcan lid. He runs up the ramp and all the way back down to hit Godderz over the head with it. Robbie pulls out a trashcan and a kendo stick as both men return to the ring after a suplex from Robbie.

Robbie places the trash lid on Godderz’s no-no zone and whacks him with the kendo stick. He goes for a dive to the outside, but Godderz ducks out of the way. Godderz nails Robbie over the head with a trashcan. Back in the ring, Godderz ribs his forearm across Robbie’s face, giving him a bloody nose.

Godderz wedges a trashcan in the corner then grabs a kendo stick. He misses the shot and Robbie uses the stick for a Russian leg sweep. Godderz rebounds with a dropkick. Robbie sends Godderz crashing into the trashcan in the corner. He hits a reverse DDT on a steel chair, but Godderz kicks out. Godderz hits a powerbomb between two chairs, but Robbie kicked out at two. Godderz places a chair over Robbie and locks in the Adonis Lock. Robbie passes out and the match is called.

Winner: Jesse Godderz

Lashley interrupts a conversation between EC3 and Tyrus. He says he better be in one of EC3’s title matches tonight. EC3 gives Lashley props, but says his competition tonight is world class. He books Tyrus vs. Lashley instead.

We cut to Kurt Angle, who is asked what he is holding. He says EC3’s gauntlet and the rest of the night is going to get interesting.

-Commercial Break-

Part two of Mike Tenay’s sitdown with Jeff Jarrett begins. Tenay asks Jarrett about the future of the TNA-GFW partnership. Jarrett says it’s a work in progress. He says he wants to bring all forms of wrestling under one umbrella. He says God opened up doors for the partnership.

Tenay asks what will happen with the TNA King of The Mountain title. Karen Jarrett interjects and says it’s going to a new home. Jeff confirms the championship will be coming to Global Force Wrestling.

We cut from the interview, which will continue later on, to EC3 who is set for his three title matches. The champion grabs a mic and asks the fans if they’re ready to see history. He says a good friend of his once said, “time is like a circle and it is endless as it is round.” He says he believes in paying it forward and remembering where he came from. He introduces the man he first beat in TNA, Norv Fernum.

TNA Heavyweight Title Match: EC3 vs. Norv Fernum

After a brief staredown, EC3 extends his hand for a shake. He kicks Norv and hits the One Percenter for the win.

Winner and still TNA heavyweight champion: EC3

The champion sits in a corner and Tyrus gives him water and wipes him off with a towel. EC3 mentions this is shark week on Discovery. He announces his second title challenger is Shark Boy.

EC3 asks Shark Boy if he’s ready for this world title opportunity. Shark Boy responds by saying, “Shell Yeah” and punches the champion.

TNA Heavyweight Title Match: EC3 vs. Shark Boy

Shark Boy punches EC3 in the corner and bites the champ’s head. EC3 nailed a clothesline on Shark Boy and hits the One Percenter. A three count followed.

Winner and still heavyweight champion: EC3

EC3 gets ready to announce his third opponent when Kurt Angle’s music hits. Angle stops at the ramp with a piece of paper. He calls EC3 a scared little boy. He reveals a legally binding contract giving him a title rematch whenever he chooses. He invokes the title match for tonight.

Lashley makes his entrance and it appears we are ready for his match with Tyrus.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Lashley vs. Tyrus

EC3 returns to commentary. Tyrus hits a scoop slam but misses an elbow. Lashley sinks in a sleeper hold, but Tyrus reached the ropes. Lashley leaps on Tyrus’ back and once again got in a sleeper hold. Tyrus eventually got out of it.

Lashley was able to lift Tyrus for an Electric Chair maneuver. He then connected with a spear for the victory.

Winner: Lashley

-Commercial Break-

We’re back to Jarrett’s interview. He says the possibilities are endless for GFW with TNA and other wrestling promotions. He says if GFW matches up with the goals of other promotions, the sky’s the limit. He talks about what made TNA what it is. He puts over Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Beer Money, Samoa Joe and TNA originals.

Rayne has a mic. She calls herself a polished Queen B. She says Velvet looks like casual fans. Sky kicks her and the match begins.

Singles Match: Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne

Sky throws Rayne into the ring steps. They return to the ring and Rayne hits a shoulder block. She connects with a northern lights suplex, but fails to secure a three count. Sky eventually pops back up and lands three kicks. She hits a jumping clothesline in the corner followed by a Stunner for the win.

Winner: Velvet Sky

-Commercial Break-

We are welcomed back with a video package showcasing TNA’s participation in Camp Boggy Creek. This is a camp for children with chronic and life threatening conditions

TNA Heavyweight Title Match: EC3 vs. Kurt Angle

As soon as the match begins, EC3 leaves the ring. He reenters before leaving again. He gets back in the ring and once again leaves. Angle drags the champion back in the ring and stomps him in the corner. Angle suplexes EC3, who rolls out the ring. EC3 was trying to get himself counted out, but Angle chased him down.

They return to the ring and Angle hits a number of German suplxes. Angle knocks Tyrus off the ring apron and sinks in the Ankle Lock on the champion. EC3 hits the referee and taps. A new ref call for the bell and it’s a disqualification.

Winner: Kurt Angle (EC3 is still champion)

A limousine arrives and Dixie Carter is out and makes her way to the Impact Zone.

-Commercial Break-

EC3 is in the middle of the ring with Tyrus. He brags about avoiding an actual match with Angle. He introduces his aunt, Dixie Carter. Dixie begins to talk, but EC3 says he knows she wants to celebrate his title win. Dixie tries to talk again, but EC3 interrupts her again talking about her giving fans the gift of EC3. Dixie is once again cut off by the champion. She snatches the mic from him.

She says the reign of Carter made her a monster. She admitted that she lied and manipulated and hurt this company. Dixie scolded EC3 and told him he is out of control. She claims the champion has been lying for weeks. Dixie told EC3 that this company belongs to all the fans. She says she can’t change the past, but she can make sure she doesn’t repeat those mistake.

Dixie calls EC3’s actions tonight an embarrassment. She says she needs to make sure someone steps up to take charge of Impact Wrestling. She says she knows exactly who it is and it’s not her or EC3.
