Indie wrestler dies after suffering injury at unsanctioned Wrestling event

In an unfortunate news today The Oklahoman is reporting that an independent wrestler William Ogletree was pronounced dead this past Tuesday after suffering a critical head injury during a wrestling event on Sunday.

Ogletree got injured after taking a spine buster during the show of the Balthazar’s Ladies of Wrestling (B.L.O.W.) promotion of Leslie Hensley.

According to William’s uncle Jospeh Ogletree, he had interest in wrestling for a while but only started competing in pro wrestling events recently. He was also a stand-up comedian and guitarist for a local rock band.

His last social media post reads: “This Sunday I will be wrestling in a match with a lot of extremely talented people! I’m so excited to help with this. I am going to get beat up a lot so if you don’t like me this is the show for you!”

It’s worth mentioning here that according to Joe Miller, the administrator of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission, this event was not licensed despite the state requiring all pro wrestling events to be pre approved.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of William Ogletree.
