Tommaso Ciampa had unfortunately suffered an injury just after turning heel and attacking his partner Johnny Gargano during the NXT Takeover: Chicago event back in May this year.
At that time it was estimated that he would stay out of action for the remainder of the year and would make his return sometime in March 2018. Though now it appears he may make his comeback sooner than first thought.
A fan recently asked Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer if Ciampa would be able to return before the upcoming NXT Takeover event in Philly in January.
Replying to it, Meltzer said that while he is not sure about Tommaso’s status, he had several different surgeries and should be ‘close’ to return:

While Dave didn’t reveal the exact date for The NXT Star’s return, hearing that he is close to making his comeback is still an exciting news for his fans.
