NXT Superstar Io Shirai had been rumored to being a potential main roster call-up. However, that will not be happening anytime soon as she has suffered an injury.
The main roster call-up would have allowed her to get more money and convince her to stay with WWE. She is also engaged to NJPW star Evil and they do not see each other much, which was always an issue for her.
Io Shirai tweaked her knee on this week’s episode of NXT during her match against Toni Storm. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that the details and exact nature of her injury have not been revealed. She is expected to be on the shelf for at least two months.
She took to Twitter and posted a photo of a knee brace.
