AEW star Malakai Black has reportedly been granted a conditional release from AEW, but his future with the promotion seems unclear. The former WWE star recently approached Tony Khan, citing his mental health as the reason for him requiring some time off from the in-ring competition. At the time, it seemed many talents were making their way back to WWE with Triple H in an administrative role. At the All Out pay-per-view, when Black was making his exit after his tag team match, he blew a kiss to the fans, thus hinting that it would be a while till they see him next.
Malakai Black assures future appearance
Black appeared at Prestige Wrestling’s Perseverance event last night, and had something to say after his match at the show. He would address his conditional release from AEW, mentioning that he will be gone for a few weeks or months and that he will have answers for fans soon.
He said:
“On a real note, I understand that all of you have questions. In due time, I will answer the majority of these questions. However, for the last 22 years of my life, I have never, not once, taken one step back and recalibrated my life. And took a chance to kinda look back at all of the stuff I’ve done in-ring, but also all of the stuff I’ve went through outside of the ring.”
The former AEW and WWE star went on to say that he’s been focused on advancing his career and reaching the next goal, as he always feared getting “stuck in one place” if he didn’t pursue making an impact on a global scale. “If you wanna branch out, you gotta not be worried about the little things.”
He added:
“Please allow me a few weeks or months to recalibrate myself. This is not goodbye, and we will see each other very soon.”
