LA Knight raised concerns when he missed last week’s SmackDown. He had tested positive for the disease owing to the pandemicshortly before Smackdown and had to leave the building. He was factored in to the show in a HUGE way. The main event segment pretty well went as it would have, without him making the save.
Now it seems that LA Knight is set to make his comeback during the September 29th episode of SmackDown.
During the September 22nd SmackDown episode, a contract signing took place between John Cena and AJ Styles for a tag team match against The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa at WWE Fastlane.
However, while Cena signed the contract, Styles was unable to do so because he was attacked backstage by Uso and Solo. This resulted in The Bloodline delivering a beatdown to Cena, concluding the show.
As previously reported, LA Knight was originally planned to come to Cena’s aid, but he tested positive for COVID-19 before the broadcast.
Ringside News reported that they reached out to confirm those plans, and we were told by a tenured member of the WWE creative team that, “AJ Styles was set up for this stretcher angle even before LA Knight had COVID.”
Meanwhile, as per PW Insider, WWE sources have verified that Knight is expected to return on the upcoming September 29 SmackDown episode in Sacramento, California.
