Ivanka Trump Fight At New York Court Leaks

According to Business Insider, Ivanka Trump is currently engaged in a legal battle to resist being compelled to testify against her father and siblings in an ongoing Trump civil fraud trial in New York. Ahead of a looming Friday deadline, her attorney lodged a comprehensive objection to her subpoena, outlining various concerns about its validity.

In the objection, submitted in court documents late Thursday, Ivanka Trump’s lawyer, Bennet J. Moskowitz, argued that the New York Attorney General’s Office had issued an excessively broad subpoena. Additionally, Moskowitz alleged that the AG’s office mishandled the service of Ivanka Trump’s subpoena, citing a technical issue that, he contends, should release her from the obligation to testify.

The objection highlighted that copies of the subpoena were dispatched to three of her corporate addresses but were not sent directly to Ivanka personally. Moskowitz pointed out that although the body of the subpoenas requested her “personal appearance” to provide testimony at the trial, they did not specify any particular employee, officer, or director that the NYAG sought to appear.

“Each of these three subpoenas listed Ms. Trump’s name only in the ‘to’ line above the LLCs’ names and the names and addresses of their registered agents,” Moskowitz wrote.

“The body of the Subpoenas requested a ‘personal appearance’ ‘to give testimony’ at trial but did not identify any specific employee, officer, or director that the NYAG wanted to appear,” he wrote.

Although Ivanka Trump was initially listed as a defendant in Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit, her name was later removed earlier this year. This removal was based on the assertion that she had ceased all responsibilities within the Trump Organization in 2017 when she relocated to Washington with her father, rendering the AG’s claims against her time-barred under the statute of limitations.

Despite her removal from the lawsuit, Ivanka remains a central figure in the case against her father and four other longstanding executives of the Trump Organization, including her brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. The Attorney General alleges that these remaining defendants, including Ivanka, continued a pattern of fraudulent behavior during the Trump administration and beyond.

Ivanka Trump, in her former role as the Trump Organization’s executive vice president for development and acquisitions, was involved in negotiating substantial financing for various Trump properties. These include the Old Post Office hotel project in Washington, DC, the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, and the Trump National Doral golf course in Miami.

Attorney General James’ allegations assert that Trump and his company utilized fraudulently inflated net-worth statements to secure favorable interest rates and other benefits from lenders, with Ivanka Trump serving as her father’s primary liaison to entities such as Deutsche Bank.
