According to Yahoo News,the legal case involving Ivanka Trump and the Trump Organization is escalating, as allegations arise that she failed to turn over requested documents to Attorney General Letitia James’ office. Despite hiring her own lawyers to separate herself from her father and brothers’ legal issues, Ivanka is now facing accusations that she failed to provide all of the email communications requested from 2014 to 2017. While she did provide some documents from the first nine months of 2014 and a small number of emails from 2014 to 2016, it seems that she did not fulfill the request in its entirety.
In response, James’ office has criticized Ivanka for either ignoring the inquiries, providing non-substantive responses, or passing the responsibility to lawyers who are no longer involved in the case.
The attorney general’s office has requested that the defendants provide sworn certifications that detail the process used to preserve, search, and produce the requested documents. It appears that the legal team representing Ivanka has denied any stonewalling, but the judge has ordered them to submit affidavits describing their process for providing documents to state authorities, under the threat of perjury.
Despite Ivanka’s attempts to distance herself from the legal issues involving the Trump Organization, the attorney general’s office seems to have evidence suggesting her involvement.
While she left her job at the Trump Organization in 2017 to work in the White House, Ivanka is still facing scrutiny over the fraud charges related to her former employer. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this legal case will be, but it is clear that Ivanka is not out of the woods just yet.
