Last year Jennifer Lopez was plagued with controversy after releasing her alcohol line, Delola. It has been noted that the main source of controversy was how she released an alcohol line, despite being married to a former alcoholic, Ben Affleck. Affleck’s friends say that her alcohol line was the beginning of the end of their relationship.
Affleck’s pals told DailyMail via OK that her cocktail line started their alleged divorce. His friends stated that it made him “sick,” saying, “Ben had to fight to get his life back after overcoming alcohol. Knowing how he lost everything, including the love of his family, knowing that he could possibly relapse, Jen decided to start her own spritzer line for more money, as if she did not have enough.”
They added, “This was one of the things that broke the camel’s back. But Ben saved his sobriety.”
This line was also a shock to many who consider Lopez has claimed she doesn’t even drink, and she allegedly had rules for how Affleck should drink socially. The new business venture was very odd to many and now, per Affleck’s pals, it was allegedly the breaking point for Affleck to call their brief marriage quits.
Affleck has been very open about his past addiction. He went into rehab back in 2001, and in the 2010s, he struggled again. However, he’s been focusing on staying sober, and follows a twelve-step program.
Lopez and Affleck fell in love on the set of the film Gigli. They appeared in a couple more projects together and got engaged by the end of 2002, per People. In 2003, they postponed their wedding and then broke up days before, due to the paparazzi and pressure they faced, and were broken up by 2004.
In 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance. A year later, they got engaged and married in a lavish ceremony, but as of July 2024, rumors about split have plagued them.
