However, it is as an actor that Foxx has built the largest part of his reputation. He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Grammy Award with rapper T-Pain. His acting prowess has made him a prominent screen performer.

In recent months, Foxx’s health has been a cause for concern among fans. Despite being only 55 years old as of December 2022, he experienced a medical complication that has raised worries.

Born on December 13, 1967, in Terrell, Texas, Foxx was originally named Eric Marlon Bishop. He used this name during his childhood and even started his comedy career with it. However, as he ventured into the world of comedy clubs, he observed that female comedians often received preferential treatment.

In light of this, Foxx decided to adopt a new identity that would shape his life. He chose the name Jamie Foxx, with “Jamie” being a unisex name and “Foxx” as a tribute to comedian Redd Foxx, known for his role in “Sanford and Son.”

Foxx’s birth parents were Darrell Bishop, a stockbroker from Texas, and Louise Annette Talley Dixon. Unfortunately, they abandoned him when he was still an infant. Foxx was raised by his maternal grandparents, Mark Talley, a yard worker, and Estelle Marie Nelson, who worked as a domestic worker and nursery operator. Interestingly, Mark and Estelle had also adopted and raised Foxx’s birth mother.
