Jeff Jarrett points to Elias as a future main eventer

The Drifter has become one of the most beloved superstars on Monday Night Raw. Whether he’s serenading an audience, insulting them, or taking on stars like Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Roman Reigns, the WWE Universe has decided to Walk With Elias.

Fans aren’t the only ones impressed by Elias, though, as WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett has picked him as a future main eventer in the WWE. The King of the Mountain even compared him to a certain star of the 90’s.

On an episode of Pancakes and Powerslams, Jarrett said that the Drifter is one feud away from breaking through the glass ceiling.

I think Elias is a true main event rivalry away from breaking to a completely different level. Not to say that he isn’t already a main eventer, but when they have that real rivalry, because if you look back at Stone Cold and Rock, Stone Cold and Vince McMahon, Hogan and Savage, Hogan and Warrior, you can just go all the way down that line.

You gotta look at where Lex Luger was at when he jumped to WCW. Overnight, he became Sting’s ally, and Sting was on the fence in the nWo storyline. And so, all of a sudden, Lex was that personified WCW face that made his name there, and he really helped nWo a lot more than people give him credit for. Again, it was another rivalry made. Lex against nWo, Sting against nWo. And I think Seth and Elias are right in that.

What do you think of Jarrett’s comparing of Elias to Lex Luger? Do you think Elias has what it takes to become a main event player?

His guitar playing certainly has a glass ceiling, very much a mid-card gimmick, but Elias reminds me a lot of Jake the Snake. He’s a big guy who’s doesn’t embarrass himself in the ring, doesn’t need a title, and is a very credible contender. WWE needs to do a little bit more to protect Elias and not be putting him in comedy segments but I think he has a very bright future.

I don’t see Elias going down the main even road unless WWE repackages his “hipster” *ss.
