Hulk Hogan has long been a strong supporter of Donald Trump, which was evident when he appeared at the Republican National Convention. During his appearance, Hogan praised Trump as his hero and labeled the campaign as ‘Trumpamania,’ showing his full support for Trump.
In response to Hogan’s endorsement of Trump, WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura shared his perspective on MSNBC. Ventura expressed that Hogan’s alignment with the Republicans was not surprising, given his past actions. Ventura recounted his own efforts in the 1980s to unionize professional wrestling, which were thwarted by Hogan.
According to Ventura, Hogan informed Vince McMahon about his unionization efforts, which led to Ventura losing his job. Ventura noted that Hogan’s stance against unions aligns with his political support, as there is still no union in professional wrestling.
“As far as Hogan goes, it doesn’t surprise me because when I was in wrestling in the ’80s, I tried to unionize wrestling, and it was Hulk Hogan who cut my legs out from under me. Hulk Hogan went to Vince McMahon, ratted me out, and subsequently, later on, cost me my job.
So it doesn’t surprise me to see Hogan with the Republicans because Hogan is as anti-union as you can get. There still is not a union in professional wrestling. The reason I tried to do it. I was in an elevator and ran into Gene Upshaw, the great tackle guard from the Oakland Raiders. And big Gene raised his finger up and looked at me and says, ‘You guys, you boys, need to form a union.’ I tried to do it, and it was Hulk Hogan who ratted me out to Vince McMahon, and subsequently I was fired and lost my job.”
