Jill Biden Makes Big Announcement After Debate

First Lady Jill Biden is set to return to Michigan next week for a series of events in Middleville and Traverse City. On Wednesday, she will start the day in Middleville, focusing on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s summer nutrition programs for children. Following this, she will visit a Hidden Helpers summer camp, which supports children of wounded, ill, or injured service members or veterans, as part of her Joining Forces initiative.

Later that day, after a short flight to Traverse City, Biden will participate in a community event. She is scheduled to arrive in Grand Rapids on Tuesday evening but has no public events planned for that day. Her visit to Michigan will follow a trip to Pennsylvania earlier on Tuesday for a Congressional Hispanic Caucus on the Road event.

In April, Biden visited Grand Rapids to headline the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation’s annual First Ladies Luncheon, aligning with the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. In May, she, along with second gentleman Doug Emhoff, toured Michigan for a mix of official events and campaign stops for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Their tour included stops in Gwinn, Marquette, Kincheloe, Sault Ste. Marie, Freeland, Midland, and Detroit.

This upcoming visit comes shortly after the first presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The debate’s first half-hour was described by the Associated Press as featuring “a raspy Biden delivering rambling answers while Trump counters with energy and falsehoods.”
