Jim Cornette shares thoughts on NBA fans body shaming Chris Jericho

The December 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite aired right after the Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks game on TNT. After the game ended, several NBA fans decided to watch the first match of Dynamite.

In the opening match, Chris Jericho teamed up with MJF and squared off against Top Flight in a tag team match. Unfortunately for Jericho, many NBA fans trolled him for his ‘dad bod’ and made fun of his physique.

With Jericho being arguably one of the biggest stars in all of AEW, many fans noticed just how different he looked compared to his time in WWE back in 2001-2005.

On a recent episode of the Drive Thru podcast, Jim Cornette talked about NBA fans trolling Chris Jericho. He noted that it was not a surprise as Jericho is the biggest mainstream name recognition star in AEW due to the years Y2J worked in WWE.

“Why is anybody surprised?” “This is another thing that I’ve been saying for a long, long time. Whether you like it or not. Chris Jericho is the biggest mainstream name recognition star in AEW, specifically because of his years and years spent with the WWE. That was when their ratings were much higher than they are now.”

“It’s not because he had a match at the Tokyo Dome a couple of years ago. It’s not because he’s with AEW now. It’s not because he was with WCW in 1998, it’s because he was a big star on WWE TV for a significant period of time; when they were doing much better ratings themselves than they are now. That’s just math and common sense.”

Jericho also responded to all the NBA fans who trolled him a day after they went after him.
