Jim Ross calls Jon Moxley’s AEW debut a Stone Cold moment, says it reminded him of Mick Foley’s Hell in a Cell spot

Jon Moxley made a surprising appearance at All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing event over the weekend, taking out Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and the referee of the main event, leaving the Las Vegas crowd roaring for more. Soon after, it was revealed that he’d signed a multi-year deal with the company, weeks after leaving the WWE.

Jim Ross was at the commentary table that night and described the moment with Sports Illustrated this week.

I didn’t know it was going to happen. I knew we were negotiating with Moxley. I asked what was happening with him about ten days ago, and I was told it was going well, but when it came time for the show, his name wasn’t anywhere on my formal sheet. It left my mind because I had more I knew I had to prepare for.

The lucky part for me is it reminded me of Mick Foley getting thrown off the cell. I didn’t know that was going to happen, and the same thing happened on Saturday night in Vegas. I didn’t know Moxley was coming out there. He was so full of passion and raw, animal magnetism. I felt it in my bone marrow. It was a “Stone Cold” moment.

JR also praised the crowd in attendance for being involved in the entire show, believing that the night wouldn’t have been as momentous without their reactions through the event.
