Jim Ross explains why working as WWE announcer is “daunting” task

During a recent installment of his “Grilling JR” podcast, AEW commentator Jim Ross reflected on his days as an announcer having Vince McMahon criticizing him in his ear on his headset during live television broadcasts while he was working for WWE.

Featured below is an excerpt from episode 90 of the Grilling JR podcast where one of the weekly voices of AEW Dynamite on TNT talks about this particular subject.

“Vince would tell you what to say, and sometimes it would be ill-timed. Sometimes it would be right on the money, but just general stuff, you know. Normally, it was critiquing on the air, live. ‘You cant say that JR, God dammit.’ So it was very disconcerting. Producing announce talent is an art form, unless you’re the owner of the company. Then you can do whatever you want, say whatever you want, don’t worry about the morale of your talent. It was rough, it was very challenging, very daunting.”
