The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW and NXT began in 2019, with NXT moving to the USA Network in order to face AEW on TNT. Since then, the competition between the two has been one of the most talked-about topics in the world of professional wrestling. AEW has defeated NXT in viewership for the majority of the Wednesday Night Wars.
WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke on his Grilling JR Podcast, where he talked about name-dropping pro wrestlers from promotions outside of AEW. Ross then turned his attention towards a tweet, where it was said that he was removed from a recent video package regarding the Royal Rumble match, that highlighted the history of the match.
Ross then mentioned the one time Triple H called AEW a ‘piss ant’ company during the WWE Hall Of Fame 2019. Jim Ross then boasted about the fact that AEW has beaten NXT soundly every eek.
“That shouldn’t surprise you,” Ross said. “It tells me they are aware of AEW very prominently even though they would not want to admit it. Triple H called us early on a ‘piss ant’ organization or something like that. This piss ant organization is beating NXT and we beat them soundly last week.”
