Jim Ross says WWE instructed Superstars not to hit Chyna’s face

WWE Hall Of Famer Chyna was a legend in the business. She frequently faced off against male WWE Superstars, which was almost unheard of back in the 90s.

During the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross told Conrad Thomspon something interesting. He revealed that WWE told their male Superstars that they were not allowed to hit Chyna in her face.

“All those roles [babyface and heel] are changing, they’re like clay,” said Ross. “You can keep moulding them in a different way. At the end of the day, one stands for right, one stands for wrong. There’s a lot of ways to present that. But absolutely, it was talked about [problems with intergender wrestling]. I think, Conrad, if I’m not mistaken, I’m trying to think back on it, it was a matter of hitting her in the face.”

Ross did not mention whether this rule also applied to other female WWE Superstars who competed against men, such as Trish Stratus and Lita.
