Joe Rogan recalls a conversation with Israel Adesanya

On the JRE podcast episode #1838, Rogan talked about his initial impression of the Kiwi kickboxer and the conversation he had with him. He went on to describe the heavy striking abilities of Israel Adesanya and Rogan showed his guest, Brian Simpson, the ending sequence of Adesanya’s bout with Paulo Costa. The standup comedian then pointed out Costa getting ‘humped’ by Adesanya and both laughed about it.

During the conversation, the 54-year-old Joe Rogan brought up his first interaction with the Nigerian-born; Rogan said:

“I reached out to Izzy before he ever fought in the UFC. I saw him fight in the kickboxing matches. And I reached out to him on Instagram; Like way back in the day.”

Rogan added:

“He was telling me that he’s taking some fights in China, and he’s like, he’s gonna come to the UFC, but he’s gonna do it the right way. He did it the right way; he was smart.”

This is not the first time, Rogan lavished the UFC middleweight champion with praise. The striking abilities of Adesanya made a great impression. The long-time UFC announcer Joe Rogan picked one aspect of Israel Adesanya‘s game that makes him different from other fighters.

Joe Rogan had talked to Herb Dean on his Spotify podcast and sai:

“He [Israel Adesanya] is, like, in my opinion, probably the very best in sport at setting traps. He’ll like, gauge you, see what you’re doing, and then switch stances.”

Israel Adesanya and Jared Cannonier are set to headline UFC 276 tonight for the UFC middleweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
