John Cena added to upcoming SmackDown exclusive PPV, his updated schedule

John Cena has officially been announced for the upcoming SmackDown Exclusive PPV Battleground on July 23rd. Wells Fargo Centre, the official venue for PPV released the following statement on Cena’s appearance:

“Wells Fargo Centre is excited to announce the addition of “Free Agent” John Cena to WWE Battleground on Sunday, July 23. Now in its fifth year, WWE Battleground has turned into one of WWE’s most exciting events. What will WWE have in store when this year’s SmackDown LIVE-exclusive pay-per-view comes to the City of Brotherly Love?”

Apart from Battleground, below are the events for which Cena is currently being advertised, starting from his official return during the July 4rth episode of SmackDown Live:

SmackDown Live – July 4th (Phoenix, AZ)

SmackDown Live – July 11th (San Antonio, TX)

SmackDown Live – July 18th (Birmingham, AL)

Battleground PPV – July 23rd (Philadelphia, PA)

SmackDown Live – July 25th (Richmond, VA)

SummerSlam PPV – August 20th (Brooklyn, NY)

It’s worth noting here that several reports suggested that after returning, Cena will start a feud with the WWE Champion Jinder Mahal leading to a title change at SummerSlam.

Though considering that Randy Orton appears to be receiving another title shot at Battleground, it’d be interesting to see what WWE has planned for John Cena when he returns in two weeks.
