Elias has appeared to challenge John Cena to a match at WrestleMania, retweeting a fan who told Cena to stop being a coward and finally face Elias in a match at WrestleMania 37, though Roman Reigns doubts Cena is with WWE.
Wrestle Features asked, “Seeing as it’s likely that @JohnCena is working Mania. Who would you book him against?” The fan Elias retweeted said, “Stop being a coward and fight @IAmEliasWWE.”
John Cena beat down Elias at WrestleMania 34 before getting an impromptu match with The Undertaker, where he quickly lost. Cena then came out in old school gear at WrestleMania 35 and took out Elias again, but the two have yet to have a proper WrestleMania match despite two interactions on the grandest stage of them all.
It was reported yesterday that John Cena and another big name will return for WrestleMania 37, which will take place over two nights at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. Cena was last seen battling Bray Wyatt in the ‘Firefly Funhouse’ at WrestleMania last year, though it was more of a glorified skit than a wrestling match.
Cena’s last real matches came during a short run in December 2018 and January 2019, where he participated in several tag matches before being taken off TV with a storyline injury prior to the Royal Rumble.
