John Cena is a 16-time World Champion in WWE, being the face of the company for over a decade. This was until he shifted to a part-time schedule back in 2017. Many fans have been wanting to see Cena make his return at this year’s WrestleMania but it is doubtful it will even happen. John Cena challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view last year and despite working his hardest, he was unable to beat the Tribal Chief for the title. He has also not been seen on WWE television since the SummerSlam encounter with the Tribal Chief.
John Cena was a bodybuilder and an avid one at that before he turned to a career in the world of professional wrestling. John Cena’s transformation from a pro wrestling star to a Hollywood actor has been a long and difficult road for him.
In a recent interview, Bull Buchanan reflected on his brief partnership with John Cena on WWE SmackDown, which lasted from November 2002 to January 2003. During this time, Buchanan was rebranded as B-2 (B²) and teamed up with Cena’s persona as a freestyle rapper.
However, their alliance ended after they failed to win the WWE Tag Team Championship from Chavo and Eddie Guerrero on the January 16, 2003, episode of SmackDown.
While speaking on The Insiders Edge Podcast, Buchanan said the alliance was short-lived because Cena did not really need to be in a tag team at all.
“I had a feeling that it wasn’t gonna be a long partnership because he really didn’t need anybody at that time. He was ready to go on his own. That kinda left me, ‘Okay, how do I spin this into something I can do?’ or something I could spin it out of. Never really got the chance to do that.”
