John Cena’s match and more confirmed for Battleground PPV

WWE confirmed a couple of more matches for Battleground PPV during recent episode of SmackDown Live, including the match for the returning John Cena. You can check out the complete SmackDown Live results of this week here.

The show opened with the return of the Cenation Leader. Though his promo was interrupted by Rusev, who also made his SmackDown Live debut tonight after weeks of speculation.

Cena then challenged Rusev for a flag match on the show but the former US Champion said he’ll face the former World Champion on his own terms. Later it was announced that Rusev will face John in a Flag Match on the next SmackDown PPV.

The main event of the show saw another title match becoming official for the PPV as AJ Styles won the Independence Day Battle Royal and became the new #1 contender for Kevin Owens’ United States Championship.

It’s worth noting here that it has been previously announced that Jinder Mahal will be defending the WWE Championship against Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match and the Usos will face The New Day for the Tag Titles at the Battleground PPV.
