WWE recently confirmed on SmackDown that John Cena is set to make a huge return on the December 30th edition of SmackDown. It seems that he is likely to face a recently signed WWE star at WrestleMania 39.
John Cena possible opponents revealed
The 16-time World Champion John Cena hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since the celebration of the 20th anniversary of his WWE debut back in June. He indicated during an in-ring promo that he wasn’t sure when he’d be competing again, and had given no indication that he’ll be back before the end of 2022.
Xero News reporting that WWE is already planning up several potential opponents for him such as Logan Paul, LA Knight, and Austin Theory for a match at WrestleMania 39. It’s been further reported that the most likely scenario to go down for a match could be John Cena taking on Logan Paul with the LA Knight feud coming in second.

Some are also speculating that Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin could face off at WrestleMania 39. WWE is also looking to bring in a lot of celebrities for WrestleMania 39. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that WWE considers it an all-hands-on-deck situation, which reflects the big plans the company hopes to accomplish.:
“It’s all hands on deck. They’ve got two nights of WrestleMania and there’s big money matches he can do. There’s a bunch of them.”
