Fans were certainly shocked when Johnny Gargano lost the NXT North American Championship against Leon Ruff. At NXT TakeOver: WarGames, a triple threat match for the title took place and a new champion was crowned.
The match was intense from start to finish as all three competitors gave it their all in order to pick up the win. Damian Priest and Johnny Gargano both fought tooth and nail to win to take the title away from Leon Ruff. Quite a few Ghostface masks also interfered in the match.
The final moments of the match saw one of the Ghostfaces hitting Damian Priest with a lead pipe, effectively taking him out of the match.
With the assistance, Gargano managed to get the three count and became the new North American Champion. It was then revealed that the Ghostface was none other than Austin Theory, who made his return to NXT.
