As many are now learning about, the former UFC champion Jon Jones has been arrested in Las Vegas after an incident at Caesars Palace and charged with domestic battery and damaging a vehicle. This has caused the MMA/UFC world to want to speak up about the incident, but they are being told by higher ups that they should not speak on the case. This was very apparent at UFC 266. Chael Sonnen Drops Jon Jones Family Bombshell.
In a video featuring Chris Daukaus, he was speaking at the post-fight conference when a question about who his next opponents would be was brought up. Chris stated that he would mainly leave that to UFC marketing, but he dropped a bomb as transcribed by Wrestling-Edge by stating “We’ll have to see how this whole mess at the top figures itself out. It won’t be Jon Jones anymore since he just got locked up. Oh, I’m not allowed to bring that up? Sorry.”
Jail and court records showed that Jon Jones posted an $8,000 bail and was due for an initial court appearance on Saturday, with an October 26 date for prosecutors to file criminal charges. The domestic battery charge is a misdemeanor. The vehicle charge is a felony, with damage reported at more than $5,000. We will see how UFC handles this.
