Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett is now a well-known figure in the pro-wrestling industry. Barnett who wrestles occasionally and used to do commentary work for NJPW on AXS TV alongside Jim Ross had quite a few things to say about the violent chair shot to the head at AEW’s Fyter Fest.
Barnett asked the company to stop saying that the spot was gimmicked and stop doing damage control of any sort in general. He went on to say that the only damage was in the ring and it worked.
Barnett even stated that Cody is a professional and that he’s capable of making his own decisions and that AEW’s damage control is “throwing water on his heat”.
Ok. So now that I'm hip to what all the chair shot references are too this morning, here's my take:
Yo, AEW…Shut. The. Fuck. Up
-Stop saying it was suppose to be gimmicked
-Stop doing damage control of any kind because the only real damage was in the ring and it worked.

Cody is grown, PROFESSIONAL and can make his own choices.
All this mealy mouthed bullshit is throwing water on his heat and shitting on the blood he shed over it.
Fans…say whatever you feel like, pro/con/or nothing at all.

I thought this was the fucking wrestling business.

Furthermore, when a fan asked Barnett if he’d ever work in All Elite Wrestling, his answer was pretty straight forward:
Likely, never. https://t.co/XM2RNQaHJ1
