Judge Denies Hunter Biden In Court After He…

A federal gun case involving Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is set to be tried next month after a judge denied a motion to postpone the trial until September. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika rejected Mr. Biden’s request, expressing confidence that all necessary preparations could be completed before the trial begins on June 3.

Mr. Biden was indicted in September 2023 on federal firearms charges, accused of providing false information on a form to purchase a gun he allegedly concealed for 11 days, despite admitting to a crack cocaine addiction. He pleaded not guilty.

Special Counsel David Weiss’s team intends to present excerpts from Mr. Biden’s memoir, “Beautiful Things,” published in 2021, which details his struggle with addiction. However, Mr. Biden’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, expressed difficulty in finding experts willing to testify due to media attention.

The defense has contended that the prosecution is politically motivated, but Judge Noreika refuted this allegation. The case may proceed to trial following a ruling by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to the gun charges, Mr. Biden is facing charges related to tax evasion in California. Accused of owing at least $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019, prosecutors allege he spent lavishly instead of paying his taxes.
