John Wick star Keanu Reeves has expresse his desire to play the role of ‘Wolverine’ in the future as per a recent Reddit AMA session.
As spotted by Deadline, Reeves made the comments during an ‘ask me anything’ session hosted by Lionsgate, which according to a pinned post on the studio’s account, quickly became the most popular AMA in the site’s history.
Keanu Reeves opens up on the matter
During the session, The Matrix actor was asked if there had ever been a role in his career that he had regretted turning down. Reeves responded “…No…but I did always want to play Wolverine”.
In the past two decades, fans have witnessed Hugh Jackman take on the role of the adamantium-infused superhero on the silver screen. Jackman has confirmed he will don the claws just one more time to play Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming movie Deadpool 3, however, leaving the role open going forward.
This is not the first time that he has shown interest in playing a Marvel character (and beyond that a currently unfilled role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), as Reeves previous said he’d love to play Ghost Rider, a character previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage.
“I might have lost my nerd card as I got older, but when I was younger, I was pretty nerdy with comics,” said Reeves. “10-year-old me would want to — I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider. I think the way that the Marvel films have developed and what they are is really spectacular, and it would be great to be a part of that.”
