Former UFC Star and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has not been on WWE television since WrestleMania 35, where she lost her title to Becky Lynch in a triple threat match in the main event of the pay-per-view, which also featured Charlotte Flair. Ronda Rousey’s return date was also previously confirmed.
Ronda Rousey’s original WWE contract has already expired. As reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ronda Rousey’s WWE contract was set to expire back in April. It is likely the company extended it somehow as the belief is that she will be returning to the company someday.
It was then recently revealed that Ronda Rousey is expected to make her return during this year’s Royal Rumble Premium Live event. That is exactly what happened as Ronda Rousey appeared in the match and eliminated Charlotte Flair to win it as well. She has booked her ticket for WrestleMania 38 and the belief is that she will face Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
Dave Meltzer noted during Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE plans to put Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch on the WrestleMania 39 card instead of this year’s WrestleMania. The Royal Rumble match was done to set up that feud for that reason only.

However, it was the worst kept secret of the night as Saturday’s Royal Rumble was ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey’s first appearance for WWE since 2019. She would win the contest by eliminating Charlotte Flair.
