According to Newsweek, conservative lawyer George Conway, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, took a sarcastic jab at the former president after Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son, was indicted for the second time. The new indictment, filed in California, includes three felony counts of tax evasion and filing a false return, along with six misdemeanor counts of failure to return. The charges accuse Hunter Biden of not paying at least $1.4 million in federal taxes between 2016 and 2019. Conway wrote on social media, “I can’t believe Sleepy Joe Biden is so sleepy and weak that he allowed the Department of Justice to indict his own son. A real President, like our beloved P01135809, would have fired the attorney general and sent the prosecutors to Gitmo. Sad!”
Conway has previously suggested that Trump’s run for the presidency in 2024 is an attempt to avoid legal peril as he faces multiple criminal indictments. Trump has maintained his innocence in all cases against him. The ex-husband of Kellyanne Conway, who served as a senior adviser to Trump, Conway stated on a podcast that Trump “is running for his life. He is running for his freedom.”
Hunter Biden’s second indictment adds pressure to President Biden, who is likely to face Trump in the 2024 election. The first indictment, filed in September in Delaware, accuses Hunter Biden of making false statements on a federal firearms form and possessing a handgun while addicted to drugs. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty after a plea deal fell apart. House Republicans are also attempting to impeach President Biden over disputed accusations related to Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. President Biden has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, asserting he “never talked business” with his son or his business partners.
