It was noted on Tuesday that Stephanie McMahon was resigning as Co-CEO of WWE and that Vince McMahon was unanimously voted in as Executive Chairman. Vince decided to make his way back to WWE. A new filing showed that McMahon is returning to the WWE board of directors. Reports emerged that the WWE Board Of Directors also tried to stop Vince McMahon from returning. Former WWE co-presidents Michelle Wilson and George Barrios are also on the board. Meanwhile, McMahon had stated that his intention was to facilitate a sale of the company. There has been much speculation that Vince McMahon was looking to sell to a party that would commit to keeping him in charge of the company.
Speculation was everywhere and it didn’t take more than a couple of hours before it was revealed that among the potential buyers interested in purchasing WWE was a group out of Saudi Arabia.
Several superstars, including WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash Santos Escobar, Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano, Thea Hail, and others, have reacted to McMahon’s departure announcement on Instagram.
Other WWE personalities, including Cathy Kelley and Megan Morant, also sent Stephanie their best wishes and heartfelt messages.
She confirmed the news on her social media account and she issued a statement for the fans:

About 8 months ago, I took a leave of absence and within a few weeks, unexpectedly had the opportunity of a lifetime. I had the privilege to return as the Co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board of WWE. I cannot put into words how proud I am to have led what I consider to be the greatest company in the world, working alongside a remarkable leadership team and one of the strongest executives I have known in my Co-CEO, Nick Khan.
Our Founder, Vince McMahon, has returned as Executive Chair and is leading an exciting process regarding strategic alternatives. And with Nick’s leadership and Paul “Triple H” Levesque as Chief Content Officer, I am confident WWE is in the perfect place to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders.
WWE is in such a strong position, that I have decided to return to my leave and take it one step further with my official resignation.
I look forward to cheering on WWE from the other side of the business, where I started when I was a little kid, as a pure fan. I will always remain dedicated to WWE. I truly love our company, our employees, our Superstars, and our fans. And I am grateful to all of our partners.
