Kid Rock took to Twitter and read an article sent from his good friend Karen Dumas with a happy tear down his eye as he reflected on all the hard work he had done over the years for his career.
My dear friend Karen Dumas sent me this. I do recall reading it years ago but have really never taken the time to reflect how hard I worked, how blessed I am and how so many great friends and people were so instrumental in my career. Sitting on the lake this morning in Northern Michigan re-reading it about brought a tear to my eye. A happy tear of reflection and gratefulness! Here’s to hard work and all of my hard working friends, fans and family! Have a terrific Labor Day! Cheers!! – Kid Rock
As Kid Rock gears up for his highly-anticipated 10-show residency at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, the Motor City is abuzz with excitement. Detroit fans, well-acquainted with his musical prowess, anticipate a performance that will undoubtedly feature his signature hits and electrifying stage presence—a repertoire that catapulted him to national stardom in 1998.
But for those in the know, the Kid Rock narrative is far richer and more intricate than what meets the eye. By the time this remarkable 10-show run concludes, Kid Rock will have serenaded a staggering 150,000 hometown enthusiasts. The question that naturally arises is, “What makes Kid Rock such a colossal figure in Detroit?”
The answer, it turns out, lies in his deep-rooted connection to the city. Kid Rock embarked on his journey in Detroit, investing a decade honing his craft, shaping his distinctive sound, and metamorphosing his identity from a scrappy hip-hop street kid into the charismatic rock-rap showman the world reveres today.
This year ushered in a new chapter in Kid Rock’s career. His album, “First Kiss,” marked his departure from Atlantic Records—the very label that catapulted him to national prominence with the monumental success of “Devil Without a Cause” in 1998. Yet, the road to this point was fraught with trials. In his youth, Kid Rock faced the heartbreak of being dropped by his initial record label. However, this setback did little to deter him. In the early ’90s, he returned to Detroit with a renewed sense of purpose—determined not by monetary pursuits but rather fueled by an unquenchable thirst for fame.
