AEW had previously reached out to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle to sign with the promotion. AEW is slated to sign CM Punk and Daniel Bryan and we could have even seen The Olympic Gold Medalist in Tony Khan’s company.
Kurt Angle reveals he was offered a contract by AEW
While speaking to Fightful, Angle went on to reveal that AEW offered him a deal to join them as a performer. It was said that they offered him another chance to have some matches after his WrestleMania retirement match against Baron Corbin. He lauded the deal, but he did not ink the deal.
Angle talked about the offer that AEW offered him a “run” after his retirement. He said that he was flattered by the offer, but wasn’t considering it because he’s too beat up physically to compete at the level he once did. WWE SummerSlam Threatened By Cancelation?
Impact Wrestling also had an offer on the table to Angle to come back.That offer from Impact Wrestling was only supposed to be a “one shot deal,” but AEW had more in mind than one match. Angle was also previously offered by WWE to come in as a coach but that did not happen either. He is currently retired and having a great time away from the squared circle.
