Lana opens up on dealing with bullies in real life

WWE Superstar Lana is currently playing an angle that involves her being bullied every week by Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

As part of the storyline, Nia Jax has put her through the announcer’s table every week till she started fighting back. Lana has been bullied at every opportunity by Nia Jax and was made to stand on the stairs by her at Survivor Series.

But Lana ended up being the sole survivor for her team as SmackDown’s Bianca Belair and RAW’s Nia Jax were both counted out.

Lana’s storyline has a very realistic touch and is likely to resonate with a lot of people who have been bullied in their lives. Speaking to Sportskeeda’s Rick Ucchino, Lana opened up about dealing with bullies.

Lana on proving bullies wrong

Lana is not only portraying a character that is being bullied, but has experienced it in real life as well. On her WWE Network special, Lana talked about facing online hatred and trolling comments from WWE fans and suffering from depression because of that.

In the interview, Lana answered how she deals with all the bullying and comes out of it winning (H/t Sportskeeda)

“Definitely motivation. I think that’s honestly sometimes what helps me keep going. When everyone is bullying me and everyone is mean to me, and everyone is saying you can’t do it, you s*ck, you are pathetic, you are worthless, you don’t belong, there’s something in me that goes ‘no I’m gonna prove you wrong’. No one’s gonna tell me what to do. I am the person who’s gonna decide my own destiny, no one else. No one else!”

Lana hopes her story help others to overcome bullying

Lana added that she hopes her own journey inspires others to stand up to bullies and not back off.

“And when sometimes it gets really hard, I think there’s someone out there, some kid, there’s some girl, there’s some woman, there’s some man, that’s getting bullied and wants to give up, that wants to think I can’t do it anymore. And I hope that my journey of falling down and getting back up, learning from mistakes, learning from defeat, you know persevere, not listening to bullies. Like I hope that my journey will help others to persevere. I hope my journey will help others stand up to their bullies. I hope my journey will encourage people. A lot of us in this time feel lonely in this time of social distancing and the hard time in the world and I just want people to know that they are not alone and that we can do it together.”

Lana has recently teamed up with RAW Women’s Champion Asuka. Together they will challenge Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for their Tag Team belt at WWE TLC pay-per-view.
