WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been slated to be working a match at WrestleMania 38. It was previously reported that he would be involved in a match with WWE SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee. However, as things turned out, Austin Theory who is Vince’s close associate has entailed a feud with McAfee and they are likely to battle it out at the ‘Shows of Shows.’

Vince McMahon could still work the match

The plans for the matches change from time to time. It now seems that Vince could still be a part of the match and wrestle. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said that Vince could still be added to the match to make it a handicap match. Despite that, likely, McMahon will just be at ringside for the match.

“What appears to be the idea is that there will be an angle to get McMahon into the match, likely overseeing the match and being at ringside rather than it being a handicap match, although that has been talked of as well.”

There was a backstage segment on an edition of RAW that strongly hinted at Austin Theory showing up with McMahon on the McAfee show to provide backup in case things got out of hand. It was also noted that there were plans for McAfee and McMahon to lock horns and Theory would have taken all of the bumps for McMahon but McMahon had second thoughts about advertising himself when they couldn’t deliver that match. We will have to see how things turn out at the show which will take place on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

During the much-acclaimed Vince McMahon interview on the Pat McAfee Show, McMahon discussed the meaning of respect and why it means so much to him. Credit to Fightful for the following.

Respect is huge in everything we do. Even from the standpoint, people don’t understand the gorilla position backstage. We hug each other, shake hands, the basis of that is ‘I’m going to the ring to work with you, my competitor. I want you to protect me. Don’t drop me on my head, I don’t want to be paralyzed, hurt for the rest of my life, I can’t continue my career.’ It’s the respect factor that you have for each other to go out there to try not to maim each other and come back through. It hurts, that’s okay, that’s what you do. You know it’s going to hurt.
