YouTube star turned boxing star, Logan Paul is defending TikToker, Addison Rae after pictures she posted of herself at a UFC event last week sparked lots of hate and backlash. Conor McGregor Called ‘Liar’ By Doctors.
Addison took to Instagram to show herself at a preliminary event for the UFC 264: Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor match in Las Vegas on July 9, as she held a UFC branded microphone.
On the post she wrote: “I studied broadcast journalism in college for 3 whole months to prepare for this moment.”
Her comment sparked tons of ruthless backlash, with critics objecting to the idea that a young influencer with no formal journalism qualifications could be chosen for such a role over those who had studied and worked in the profession. Conor McGregor Called ‘Liar’ By Doctors.
She was also bullied for having dropped out of Louisiana State University as she rose to fame on TikTok, where she currently has more than 80 million followers. As the bullying continued to pour in, Rae later returned to her account to state: “nvm y’all got me fired.”
While it was later reported by E! News that Louisiana native Rae was there largely as a spectator and had only interviewed Poirier as he hails from her hometown of Lafayette, Paul stepped forward to defend her.
Speaking on a July 14 episode of his Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul stated: “I feel bad for her… I think people are just mad because she made a tweet about doing broadcast journalism for this moment, and she didn’t complete the course because she got famous on TikTok. And there’s real broadcast journalists out there who are in school, working hard and studying, and then graduated and got their degree, who maybe didn’t get the job. But it’s f****** Addison Rae!”
He then went on to suggest that sexism played a large part in the criticism as he referenced the backlash also faced by sisters Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.
Logan: “I notice with the the young TikTok stars, especially the women, for some reason they’re on the chopping block a bit more than the average creator, which I don’t like,” he said. “The D’Amelios go through this as well, and it’s horse****, to be honest with you.”
He went forward: “I feel bad, because I don’t know if they’re in a spot yet like, for example, Jake [Paul] is, where they can kind of just raise a middle finger and be like, f*** off… They still have to be liked. That’s their shtick.”
Logan closes: “And I feel bad for them, because they’re trying to fit this persona that they may or may not be. But regardless, if they wanna keep doing what they do, they have to bend a little bit for a bunch of bull****, which I don’t like. I feel bad for her and any young creator who gets s*** on for being themselves and doing what they do. It kind of sucks.”
