Roman Reigns was recently crowned the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after he managed to defeat Brock Lesnar in a title unification bout in the headline of WrestleMania 38. It seems that WWE are not planning to take the title away from ‘The Tribal Chief’ anytime soon. His title reign began in August 2020, and he has held the title for almost 600 days.

Roman Reigns is likely to keep the title at least until WrestleMania 39

As per a new report by WrestlingNews, the company doesn’t want Reigns to lose the titles in the near future. The report further stated that he could hold the belts until a dream match against The Rock at WrestleMania 39.

“We are told that, as of today, there are still no plans for him to lose the title anytime soon. Some in the company have speculated that he will hold the title through next year’s WrestleMania [the hope is that The Rock will come back for one final match] and by that point, the company would start pushing Reigns as the greatest of all-time.”

Ringside News recently reported that they were told by a tenured member of the creative team that Roman Reigns is likely in store for a lengthy title reign. However, “the reports of ‘Roman will be champion for long term’ is typical internet click bait.”

The fact is that “there are no plans for Roman to lose the title.” That being said, there are also no title defenses lined up for the Tribal Chief yet. Brock Lesnar isn’t working WresteMania Backlash, and he was never booked for that event.

At this time, WWE hasn’t slotted anyone in to step up and face Roman Reigns just yet. As it is known, nothing is definite in WWE, “Unless Roman has something in writing guaranteeing he’ll be champion for a length of time, there are no guarantees. Just no plans otherwise, right now, today.”

The next premium live event after WrestleMania is WrestleMania Backlash on May 8. Reigns isn’t booked for any matches yet and hasn’t even begun a new feud since defeating Lesnar at The Show of Shows. We will see what is next for him.
