Mark Henry Defends WWE Against Racism Claims, Reveals Which Gimmick He Refused To Do

– Mark Henry and Koko B. Ware appeared on HuffPost Live this week to discuss Marc Lamont Hill saying there is racism in WWE. Henry talked about refusing to work the Silverback gimmick back in 2007:

“A lot of people remember the Silverback thing. Honestly, I could not do it. I told them: ‘I can’t do that. I got two little black kids at home.'”

Henry mostly defended WWE and maintained that the company and its scriptwriters have no racist tendencies toward its wrestlers. He said:

“Black culture, we dance and sing. We’re entertainers. James Brown said it best: the things we are make people want to be like us.”
