Mark Henry: Jay Lethal is alongside the likes of The Rock & Booker T

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry says that current ROH World Champion Jay Lethal is in the same league as The Rock, Booker T, and Ron Simmons.

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Henry praised Lethal and said that Lethal is one of the African American wrestlers that are paving the way for the future generations.

“Jay Lethal, you are a friend, but more than that you are a contemporary. You deserve to be spoke of in the same breath as The Rock, a Ron Simmons, a Booker T or Mark Henry. The list goes on of people that paved the way for African American wrestlers throughout history. You are setting the stage for the two or three generations after you. If you have that in mind, you will go on to do great things because you already done great things but I am very proud that you’re headlining the Madison Square Garden.”

Henry also praised Kofi Kingston and drew parallels between Lethal and Kingston. He said that there’s an African American influence on wrestling now, with both Lethal and Kingston on top of the game. Lethal will be defending the ROH World Title in a Triple Threat Ladder Match against Marty Scurll and Matt Taven at the Ring of Honor – New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Supercard, while Kingston will be challenging Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
