Mark Henry talks about first meeting with Vince McMahon

Mark Henry is a WWE Hall Of Famer and a legend in the professional wrestling business. However, he did not start in the independent circuit. After he got a call from Vince McMahon in 1996, he made his way to WWE.

Henry spoke to VLADTV, where he revealed at the time he decided he was not competing in Olympic weight lifting anymore.  He spoke to Bob Young and planned on joining the NFL. He got a workout with the Redskins, but then he received a call from Vince McMahon.

McMahon told Henry that he heard Mark likes wrestling to which he replied “Hell yeah.” Then McMahon said, “I want you to come and see how we do things.”

Henry admitted he was very excited and might have looked like the biggest fan “in the history of fans” when he walked into McMahon’s office in hopes of becoming a Superstar.

“All I could do is walk around the office like ‘Oh my god! Is that really Andre the Giant’s boots?! Is that really Hulk Hogan’s shirt?!’ I was just the biggest fan, I’m still the biggest fan.”

Henry revealed he watches 13 hours of professional wrestling a week as part of his jobs at Busted Open Radio, It’s Not A Sports Show, and WWE Backstage.
