NJPW held their annual Power Struggle event today from Osaka, Japan. During the event, Kota Ibushi would defend his IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championship Contract Rights against Jay White.
Ibushi earned the right to main event Wrestle Kingdom 15 in January after he won the prestigious G1 Climax tournament. However, as is traditional, Ibushi would need to defend his Contract for the Championship match against the competitors who defeated him during the G1 tournament.
In a first ever seismic shift at Power Struggle, Kota Ibushi lost the right to go to Wrestle Kingdom in January and fight for the title. This happened as Jay White took the dirty win against the ‘Golden Star’ in their bout earlier today.
Jay White stated after the match that he plans on facing Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships on Night Two of Wrestle Kingdom 15. That will take place on January 5th.
