WWE are no strangers to controversy. The late WWE star Chris Benoit is an ever-controversial star. It has been noted that 15 long years have passed since Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son before committing suicide in a tragedy that shook the pro-wrestling fraternity to its core. A lot has been said about Benoit’s heinous actions over the years. It turns out that the former WWE Vince McMahon allowed Benoit to receive a 15-minute standing ovation.

Vince McMahon allowed standing ovation for Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit worked his way up to the top in WWE. He beat Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 20 to win the World Heavyweight Championship in a memorable moment for him and the fans as well.

Benoit’s rivalry with Kurt Angle was also well received by fans. This includes his match with Kurt Angle at the 2003 Royal Rumble. While speaking on a recent episode of Gold Medal Q&A w/ Kurt Angle on AdFreeShows.com, Angle revealed that Vince McMahon allowed Benoit to receive a 15-minute standing ovation:

“It was my best performance by far,” said Angle. “That match was magic. Chris and I lit up that night. As a matter of fact, when the match was over I won. I remained champion. Team Angle carried me off and Vince McMahon allowed Boston fans to get on their feet and give Chris a standing ovation for 15 minutes during the pay-per-view. So he was wasting time but the match was that good that Vince McMahon just decided to let that guy soak it in and that speaks volumes about the kind of match it was.”
